THE DSI COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Established in 2023, the DSI Community Education aims to unite diverse interest groups (e.g., students, teachers, administration, IT) and researchers exploring the digital transformation of education.

We research the topic of digital education in an application-oriented way. With which digital tools and in which digital environments will we learn in the future? What didactic approaches does the 21st century need? And how can the digital transformation in educational institutions succeed? The DSI Community Education deals with questions like these. It is thus a point of contact for questions from the field while at the same time a supporting unit for other communities with questions about education. We are pursuing three main goals:

Goal 1

Goal 1

To develop research groups and submission of joint proposals towards learning/teaching development and research.
Goal 2

Goal 2

To develop a «map» of researchers and projects focused on the topics of the community at all levels (primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary education).
Goal 3

Goal 3

To provide support to other communities in matters of education.

THE DIGITAL SOCIETY INITIATIVE (DSI)

What questions about digitalization are on your mind? And how has your life changed with the digital transformation? Digitalization is presenting society and science with new challenges. It is taking hold of a large part of our lives at an ever faster pace.

The Digital Society Initiative (DSI) shapes the digital transformation of society and science. With interdisciplinary activities in research, education and outreach, the DSI is the University of Zurich’s (UZH) competence center on digital transformation.

The DSI is a scientific institution supported by all faculties of the UZH, which promotes independent scientific reflection and innovation on questions of digital transformation. It prepares UZH students to help shape the digital transformation, engages in regular discourse with the public and supports policy-making on digital transformation issues.

DSI Community Education

The DSI Community Education is dedicated to advancing research on learning and teaching within digital environments.

The challenge of digital education leads to questions about the future of learning and teaching and the role of teachers and learners. At the same time, didactic issues must be closely linked to the digital infrastructure.

  • How do we deal with technological progress in teaching and learning scenarios?
  • In which «digital places» will teaching and learning take place?
  • How can digital education contribute to educational equity?

Questions of this kind are discussed in the community to accompany and sharpen the digital transformation of educational institutions, such as the University of Zurich, and to derive strategies.
