EdTech Hackathon: Focusing on Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning

On October 15–16, 2025, the EdTech Hackathon: Focusing on Adaptive Self-Regulated Learning brought together an inspiring mix of researchers, educators, students, and EdTech professionals at the Digital Society Initiative in Zürich.

Over two dynamic days, participants collaborated across disciplines to tackle real-world challenges presented by Swiss EdTech companies Evulpo and Stealth Startup. Guided by expert mentors (Dr. Juliette Désiron, Dr. Helene  von Gugelberg) and energized by keynote talks from leading scholars (Asst. Prof. Dr. Leonie Sibley and Prof. Dr. Yves Karlen), teams designed research-informed projects aimed at:

  • Developing adaptive learning paths
  • Boosting learner motivation through gamification and feedback

The event culminated in a pitch session evaluated by a jury of academic and industry experts. The projects stood out for their originality, impact, and feasibility, earning opportunities for internships, continued mentorship, and potential research funding.

A big thank you to all participants for their creativity, collaboration, and transparent feedback—your contributions are shaping the future of educational technology!
